New Zealand : Day 5 - Queenstown

Note: Read on for Day 1 and 2 , Day 3 , and Day 4

On our second day in Queenstown, we braced ourselves for some "extreme" activities that Queenstown is famous for. After breakfast, we set out to Goldfield Mine in Kawarau Gorge for our Jet-Boating adventure. Again the drive to Kawarau Gorge is a scenic one.

Picturesque journey

Upon reaching Goldfield, we were warmly greeted by two really adorable  Labradors - one female and one male. They love to be patted and rubbed around their furry necks. :)

While waiting for our turn for the Jet-Boat, we walked around the old mining town and started panning for gold. Nothing came out of it but rocks and sediments. Apparently, there are still 30% of gold left in the area.

The Jet-Boat ride was about 45 minutes and is quite exhilarating. It is like jet-ski, but on a speed boat. Some of us were soaking wet!!

Thereafter we headed to the Kawarau Bungee Jump Centre which  is the first ever bungee that took place. Founded by AJ Hackett. I didn't take the plunge but my cousin did. A jump cost NZD189 (approximate RM500), yes very expansive!

Someone is preparing to jump!

That's how far you will free-fall down.

As we drove back to Queenstown, we stopped by a Cheesery-cum-Winery to sample free cheese kaypoh a bit.

Around Queenstown, we goof around a bit before heading to the Skyline - the highest peak in Queenstown to go on the luge and to have an overview of the city.

Beautiful tree with pretty white flowers

I don't quite recall how much it cost but on a rough estimate 5 rounds of luge plus the gondola ride is about NZD20 (RM50), which is not too bad.

Nice? :)

Getting ready for the luge! Yes, we were all really excited!! The boys especially cant wait to race down the slope.

All set to go!

Yup .. and that concludes of our fun-filled day in Queenstown. To end my post, here is a picture of the city of Queenstown on top of the highest point during sunset. Breathtaking isn't it? :)

Love;
Mrs Lee
