The arrogant one

We started off with KL Le Meridien as the place is central enough for all of our guests and my previous company had thrown a function there before at the poolside + saloon + Al Nafourah Restaurant (a mediterranean restaurant). The set up was fantastic! I was so amazed at how detailed the decor is. And above all, the poolside is high enough for us to face KLCC and hence is very cooling.

The interior - i.e. the saloon which is linked to Al-Nauforah restaurant is very arabic-like. Kinda like a rustic and vintage feel. Really very warm and cosy. So in view of the above, I dragged took Bear to check up on Le Meridien as our first stop.

The intended plan was to hold the ceremony the day before (i.e. 9/10/10) at the pool side in the cool of the evening, followed by cocktail (read: liquor) in the saloon. Then the dinner banquet will fall on 10/10/10. As confirmed, Bear was impressed with the venue.

So we took the brochure back and made an appointment to meet up with the marketing coordinator the following day. And mind you, their wedding dinner starts from RM1,799++. Do the math, and it will be RM2,070 nett per table. That is crazy expensive ok!

The following day, we met up with the person (forgot her name) and to our disappointment, she didn't come prepared AT ALL! Really wasted our time ok! First impression - OUT! Imagine, simple things like this also they are not prepared, how are we gonna entrust them to coordinate our wedding!

Thereafter, she promised that she will call and email me providing more details. When the email didn't come, I called back and whoever that caller was was downright rude! She has this air of arrogance surrounding her (voice) that has this kinda 'If you don't have the money, then you can forget Le Meridien. We are too up-market to entertain people like you' attitude.

So, yeah forget about Le Meridien we did. Up-market my foot! At the price they are charging and with an internationally-acclaimed 5 star status, I EXPECT better service than that!

Hence, we moved on to the next hotel.

And so we began...

First thing that was on our mind was the date. Without it, we can't proceed to do anything at all. Scrolled through the phone calender and voila! 10th October 2010 (10/10/10) falls on a Sunday!

We had a lot of ideas running through our minds. I wanted a ceremony that is out of church (for certain very obvious reasons). My ultimate goal was to have a cruise wedding, but I know that it is a very far-fetch idea - unless if our parents print money. So, I settled for a garden wedding. But then, I also know with our Malaysian weather, it was near to impossible to host a garden wedding unless if we jeapordise the convenience and comfort of our guests. Then, Cameron Highlands crossed my mind. Imagine the natural greens and the cooling breeze of highland weather.

One word. Perfect.

Sigh.. alas, the logistic was a main issue as it was a hassle to shift massive amount of guests up for a wedding ceremony. Unless, if we have a private and intimate ceremony - which is impossible as both the combined guest of me and Bear will totalled up to an estimated number of around 300+.

Then, Bear had this very brilliant idea of saying our vows 'up in the sky' i.e. in Sky Bar or Luna Bar with KLCC as our background. I am kinda in for the idea because none of the people whom we know has done it before and it would be something different and remembered by many in years to come.

With those propositions in mind.. we started our hotel shopping.

Prelude

The proposal came on 31st May 2009 and was over and done with. So, what's next?

PLANNING FOR THE BIG DAY!
The day every girl have been dreaming of.
The day every dad will be dreading of.

Wedding.
My own wedding. *bliss*

To be honest, we have been planning for the wedding even before the proposal in May, way back in January of this year. Kiasu~ism at its best!

Yes, I am darn excited! I am not complaining about the planning process - yet. I think the stress may kick in next year when it is closer to the date, when we are finalising the guest list, when we are doing the seating arrangement, when we are following up on people who don't bother to RSVP and so on and forth. You know, the usual last minute detailing at the end.

*shudders*

As of now, I am sailing into marriage~hood as gracefully as I can.
And am LOVING IT!

Love,
